Auburn prepares for a dogs day

A fun event is coming up for Auburn's dogs and their human companions.

The family-oriented Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run has been scheduled but will be a little different this year. The run is usually held in conjunction with the Petpalooza Festival. However, due to restrictions that have been put in place during the pandemic, the 2021 Petpalooza will not be held, and the Dog Trot is going virtual.

A runner taking part in a virtual race has the option of choosing where and when they will run, even if they decide to run the course as originally laid out. Participants will be able to pick up their packets in the weeks before the race. Organizers plan to offer a number of different date and time options, so that pick-ups will be contact-less. If runners prefer, they can have the packets mailed to them.

Participants in the Dog Trot will complete either a 5K or 3K route they choose themselves, and should try and compete their personal race close to the original race date. If health conditions permit and restrictions are lifted, there is still a chance the event will be held in person.

This year's Dog Trot is scheduled for May 22. No matter whether the event is virtual or in-person, organizers ask everyone to follow social distancing guidelines and stay safe, and this is the sort of information often reinforced with printed Signs and graphic design.
