Auburn in December display of taste

A tasty event is coming to Auburn.

The city has announced the date for the 2020 Gingerbread House Contest. A total of 12 entries will be accepted, six in the child category; and six in the adult. Children are classed as those 12 and under, while adults are those 13 years of age and over.

Any structure can be built for the contest, real or imaginary, and everyone is welcome to participate in this free event. The houses will be displayed so people can vote for their favorite. Winners will be declared in both categories, and will receive a $30 gift card.

Entry rules note that the structure must be appropriate for people of every age, be original, and be constructed in 2020. It must have an exterior that is 90% edible, and be complete when brought to the center. The entries must be mounted on bases so they can be displayed, and the bases must be 24 square inches or smaller.

If the entry is in the “child” category, the young person must build the whole thing. If an adult has helped, the entry has to be placed in the “adult” category. Flyer printing can provide handouts for this type of event.

The contest will be held from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm on November 30, at the Auburn Community & Event Center. The application deadline is November 4 and the houses will remain on display until December 14 at noon, when the winners will be announced.
