Artists Wanted to Paint the Town Red (and any other color)

The artists of Auburn are being invited to leave an impression across the city as part of the Auburn Art Walk 2012, by decorating A-board's with their own unique designs.

The annual showcase, which this year launched April 12, aims to bring business and the art world closer together. With the ultimate aim of getting more people interested and involved with art, it is a great chance for residents and visitors to see art of all descriptions.

Each walk takes in both the Old Town and Downturn areas of the city and to help promote the event and add something different to the usual Flyers, Posters and Banners that printing services provide, this year, the organizers are looking for artists to paint A-Board Signs.

These will be set up outside each venue and business premises taking part in the walks on May 11 through 12, and August 3 through 4.

There are a few simple guidelines to follow but other than that, the imagination of each artist is the only restriction on the designs.

Artists taking part should only use two sides of the A-boards, whilst the words “Art Walk” need to be clearly displayed in 7 inch letters. The design should also be large enough to be seen from a distance.

Only acrylic paints should be used on the boards, as these will be varnished and exposed to the elements. Anyone without such materials can have them provided from the city arts department.

The only other important thing to remember is to sign the work, so you can get all the credit for your own publicly displayed masterpiece.
