The Cheese Plant is celebrating a prosperous three years with an upcoming open day and entertainment opportunity.
The origins of the plant go back to the Saputo Cheese factory, which processed 17% of all the dairy in Vermont and employed more than 35 people. A fire destroyed a section of the plant in 2010, and so the factory closed and opened up a parcel of 15 acres in the center of town. A Task Force was then convened by the Hinesburg Select Board to explore options for the redevelopment of the property.
The Task Force pursued several options over the next six months and Saputo saw that the town was being energetic in finding a use for the property. Saputo eventually sold it to Malone Properties and Partners and the Task Force continued its active search for tenants.
Having outgrown its former facility in Barre, Vermont Smoke and Cure leased about a quarter of the old manufacturing footprint. Then, construction adjacent to the plant began on Hinesburgh Public House in a free-standing building to meet the need in the community for a destination restaurant. In another 10,000 square feet of production space at the rear of the factory, Green Mountain Organic Creamery and then Senix moved their high-tech sensor manufacturing company from Bristol to what is now called The Cheese Plant in August 2012.
To make the plant’s success, a celebration will be held this Saturday, September 26, beginning at 1:00 pm and hosted by town and state officials. There will be tours of the businesses in the plant from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, followed by food and dancing in front of the Public House.
Most likely the tenants are working with a banner printing company to Print Banners and other promotional materials that can be displayed around town announcing this special event.Get a Free Quote for Banners Get a Free Quote for Print
