A popular race is coming back to Colchester.
The Colchester Causeway 5K, 10K & 15K Running Race is a yearly event that takes runners onto the causeway, which at some places is only a few feet across, giving them stunning views of Lake Champlain.
Runners have their choice of a 5K, 10K or 15K race. All the contests begin at the same time and place, 8.00 am at Airport Park. From there, participants follow a gravel trail that leads onto the Causeway. Designated points have been marked at various distances to show runners where to turn around.
The terrain here comprises mostly flat dirt and gravel trails surrounded by wetlands, and of course, views of Lake Champlain. Proceeds go toward the upkeep of the Causeway and any needed improvements, so it will be in place for future generations. The race is chip timed, and post-race refreshments and results will be provided.
Although people of all ages may participate in the race, those in the 10K or 15K must be 12 or older. To keep everyone safe, running with a dog, baby joggers, roller blades, and bicycles will not be allowed on the route while the race is going on, and they cannot take part in the race.
There is a limit of 400 participants in the race, which is scheduled for June 6. Organizers of outdoor events like this can use banner printing to create Signs to mark points on the course.
