Holiday concert planned in Colchester

A special event in Colchester will ring in the holidays in style.

The Bella Voce Holiday Concert: Joyous Sounds of the Season features the Bella Voce Women's Chorus of Vermont, who will welcome the holidays with song. The Northern Bronze Handbell Ensemble will also perform. The theme of the concert is starlight, a celebration of holiday cheer and wonder.

Dr. Dawn Willis founded the Bella Voce Women’s Chorus of Vermont in 2004. Membership is by audition, with singers coming from five counties in northwest Vermont, and including church ensemble directors, music educators, students majoring in music education, and other women who love to sing.

Bella Voce gives two major concerts annually and performs throughout the community on less formal occasions. They have toured Massachusetts, Vermont, Italy, Austria, and Ireland. They have numerous recordings to their name, most of them with a holiday theme. They include 2008’s “Christmas Joy,” “Heart Songs: Music of the World,” dropped in 2017, “Down by the Riverside” (2020), and “Christmas in the Air,” released in 2022.

Jodie Auer Johnson is the leader of the handbell ensemble. The bells cover five octaves, giving the music extreme range. The handbells will add to the magic of the evening.

The concert is set for December 6 at 7.30 pm, at the McCarthy Arts Center, located at 18 Campus Road in Colchester. Festive events like this can benefit if organizers use poster printing to create colorful advertisements for them.
