Lions Club has special events planned in Colchester

The Colchester Lions are planning two special days in the city.

The first is a day that captures everything people love about summer—fun, food, and games. The Lions are hosting a Community Fun Day including hot dogs, hamburgers, and ice cream. Games will include cornhole and bocce, the latter of which is a classic game from Italy.

Cornhole and bocce are both lawn games involving tossing balls at targets. Cornhole players aim at a hole in a board, while bocce players toss balls so that they land as close as possible to another ball – a target known as the pallino.

In addition, the Lions will be collecting items local students will need when they return to school in the fall.

The second event is the Colchester Lion's Club Fourth Annual Garage Sale. Everyone is invited to find treasures among a wide variety of goods that includes tools, sporting goods, toys, Books, household goods, small furniture, and unique items. All monies raised at the sale will go to support the Lions’ charitable efforts and their community projects.

The Community Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, August 17, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, at Airport Park. The event is free.

The garage sale is set for Saturday, August 23, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The location is a private home at 1447 West Lakeshore Drive. When they plan events like these, organizers could use flyer printing to create handouts to distribute in the local area.
