What's Happening in Colchester, VT…

A local facility recently celebrated its first six months of successful operation.

The development process for the Colchester Recreation Center took more than 20 years. It began in 2004 when the town bought land for the center, but it took until 2023 for the voters to approve the bond for construction. The center opened on February 17, 2025, and the recent party featured a concert, food trucks, and free exercise classes.

The center features an exercise room, a large gym, and space for various activities such as fitness classes. The building is usually buzzing with various activities, and there is an indoor track available for walking when weather outside is inclement. On Fridays, the center hosts Age Well meals.

The celebration was a full two days of fun on September 12 and 13. The first day brought an ice cream food truck from Palmer’s Maple, Mexican food courtesy of Gerber’s Joint, and another truck from Parking Lot Pizza. There was a free throw competition in the gym, and tours of the center were given. The day wound up with a performance by the Buck Holler Band.

The second day included free exercise classes, more tours, and the gym was available for anyone who wants to play some basketball.

Nicole Conley is the manager of the center and said she hoped the event would make people in the community aware of the facility’s assets. People who organize events like this often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
