Two University of Vermont College of Medicine students recently received $5,000 scholarships from the Vermont Medical Society's Education and Research Foundation.
Hillary Anderson of Hinesburg and Kyle Concannon of Springfield were honored at the Vermont Medical Society's annual meeting in Stowe, Vermont, on November 7.
Every year, the Vermont Medical Society's Education and Research Foundation awards at least one scholarship to medical students who demonstrate a commitment to practicing medicine in Vermont. The foundation created the scholarship in order to encourage medical students to come back to the state after completing their residencies. Contributions from the University of Vermont Medical Center, members of the Vermont Medical Society, and the Chittenden County Medical Society fund the scholarship.
Both of this year's scholarship winners are native Vermonters. Anderson received a certificate in Premedical Science at Bryn Mawr College, a Master's of Public Health at Boston University, and a B.A. in Community Health from Brown University. Prior to entering the College of Medicine, Concannon was a student in the University of Vermont’s Honors College and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Anderson is considering a career in family medicine or pediatrics, while Concannon hopes to become an oncologist.
In addition to organizing the scholarship, the Vermont Medical Society coordinates advocacy initiatives and publishes Green Mountain Physician Magazine, a membership publication produced via newsletter printing and distributed via Mailing services.Get a Free Quote for Mailing
