Summer camps for children who like the outdoors are on the schedule in Brattleboro.
The Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center (BEEC) has designed its Nature Explorers Summer Camp for youngsters who enjoy exploring outside. Children who attend the camp spend every day outdoors, where they can explore the 60 acres of the BEEC, including Frog Pond, Mossy Rocks, and the Grandmother Tree.
Planned activities include playing games inspired by the natural world; mapping activities; exploring ecosystems; learning skills naturalists must have; investigating the homes of animals and building shelters, and many more.
In order to keep everyone safe, COVID-related restrictions have been put in place. The camps will be held entirely outdoors and will be limited to ten children each. Each group will have its own bathroom, outdoor shelter, and two counselors. Banner printing can be used to create Signs for outdoor events like this.
Both counselors and children will be required to always wear masks and maintain the recommended physical distance. BEEC understands it is difficult for youngsters to wear masks all day, so there are “mask breaks” scheduled, with recommended distances observed. Organizers ask that parents not apply unless they are sure their children can abide by the guidelines.
The camp is open to children from age 5 to age 11 and runs weekly from June 28 to August 13. Registration is open now, and some camps already have sold out, but wait lists are available. The center is on Bonnyvale Road in West Brattleboro.
