Pallbearer is on tour with guest Knoll, and the two are promising a great show for fans of the more extreme genres of heavy metal such as death metal and grindcore.
Pallbearer formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2008, with Joseph D. Rowland and Brett Campbell as the founders. They met when they were students at the University of Central Arkansas. David Dobbs joined as their drummer, and Devin Holt came aboard to handle second guitar. Zach Stine replaced Dobbs shortly after, and they began their career by self-releasing a demo in 2010.
The lineup change was successful and Profound Lore Records signed the group in 2011. Pallbearer dropped “Sorrow and Extinction,” the first full-length album, in 2012, and won immediate praise from critics. Pitchfork gave “Sorrow and Extinction” its Best New Music status, and both NPR and Spin called it one of the year’s best albums.
Initially playing traditional doom metal, Pallbearer has evolved to include alt and progressive rock.
Knoll, who are from Tennessee, play what they call “funeral grind.” An article notes that extreme music like theirs is deliberately designed to confuse, sicken, shock, and scare, and Knoll:
“. . . exists at the furthest reaches of that abyss.”
What promises to be an exciting and challenging concert is scheduled for Sunday, April 12 at The Stone Church. Advertisements for events like this can be created by organizers using poster printing.
