Cursive is on tour with AJJ, a combination that promises to bring several different kinds of rock to audiences.
Cursive formed in 1995 in Omaha, Nebraska, founded by Tim Kasher, Matt Maginn, Steve Pedersen, and Clint Schnase. Kasher, Maginn, and Pedersen had been together in Slowdown Virginia, and when that band broke up, they decided to form their own group. Pedersen knew Schnase from another group, and he came aboard as the fourth member.
The band has been described as indie rock, post-hardcore, and emo. They gained notice when they released “Domestica” in 2000 and received both critical and commercial success in 2003 with “The Ugly Organ.” To date, they have released nine studio albums, six EPs, one compilation album, eight singles, 11 music videos, and four other projects. They dropped their latest album, “Devourer,” in 2024. A review says:
“Their performance was bursting with energy and intensity. . . . Cursive continues to impress. . .”
AJJ formed in 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona, and is a folk-punk outfit. Their work addresses themes such as existentialism, religion, and humanity. The band’s cofounders are bassist Ben Gallaty and singer/guitarist Sean Bonnett, who have remained in the lineup since the beginning. To date, they have released eight studio albums, with “Disposable Everything,” dropping in 2023.
The concert is scheduled for December 15 at The Stone Church. When they schedule events like this, organizers can help them succeed by using poster printing to create advertising.
