Singer/songwriter SASAMI (she uses all caps) has extensive experience in various aspects of the industry. A 2012 graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she arranged the music and scored studio albums, commercials, and films, and taught music in Los Angeles, which now serves as her home base. She played synths with Cherry Glazerr, a rock band she joined in 2015, and toured with them for more than two years before beginning her solo career in 2018.
In 2018, SASAMI shared “Callous” on SoundCloud, which resulted in a “Best New Track” award from Pitchfork. Domino Recording Company signed her that year, and released “Callous” and a new song, “Not the Time,” leading The Fader magazine to label her
“rock’s next big thing.”
For her part, SASAMI said she wrote the two songs while she was touring, using a guitar on her iPad, and then re-recording them later. She described it as like scribbling a note on a tear-stained napkin then transcribing it to fancy paper to make it seem like she knew what she was doing.
She also spent most of 2018 on the road with musicians such as Menace Beach, Snail Mail, Baths, and others.
A review says:
“Sasami has a great voice and is sick on the guitar.”
SASAMI will be at the Stone Church in Brattleboro on March 4. Poster printing provides organizers of events like this with a great means of creating compelling advertising.
