Rock outfits come to Brattleboro

Two rock bands are planning to visit a Brattleboro venue for an upcoming concert.

Church of the Cosmic Skull will be making an appearance at The Stone Church soon, along with the Valley of the Sun. Cosmic Skull first got together in Nottingham, England, in 2016, founded by singer/songwriter and guitarist Bill Fisher. The members of the new outfit were from other local bands, and some had written songs while they worked in other groups.

Fisher prized people’s songwriting ability, and was interested in both pop and rock. Influences on the group include David Bowie, The Beatles, Queen, and more. The band is known for its multiple vocal harmonies, and its use of strings, piano, and Hammond organ. The group released its latest album, “There Is No Time,” in 2022.

Valley of the Sun is a ‘stoner rock’ band, a genre usually considered to combine elements of acid rock, psychedelic rock, and doom metal. Valley formed in 2010 in Cincinnati and has performed with some of the biggest names in the category, including Monkey3 and Truckfighters. They have toured in both Europe and the United States, and dropped their latest album, “The Chariot” in 2022.

A review of Cosmic Skull says:

“If Hawkwind and Deep Purple had a giant space baby from the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey, it would be called Church Of The Cosmic Skull. . .. A truly cosmic experience with amazing tunes.”

The bands will be in Brattleboro on April 13. When events like this are planned, organizers can publicize them using poster printing.
