Ducks Ltd. are from Toronto and comprise Australian Evan Lewis as lead guitarist, and Tom McGreevy, who was born in the U.K. and raised in the U.S., on rhythm guitar, bass, and vocals.
The group is fairly new. They released “Get Bleak,” their first EP, I 2019, under the name “Ducks Unlimited.” They signed with Royal Mountain Records and Carpark Records in 2021, and rereleased the EP that year. They also dropped “Modern Fiction” their debut album, the same year. Their second album, “Harm’s Way,” appeared in 2014.
McGreevy explains that “Harm’s Way” includes anxious songs that reflect the suffering he sees today, and:
“. . . the strain of living in the world when it feels like it’s ready to collapse.”
The latest album reflects the duo’s growth and their evolving songwriting process. Both “Get Bleak” and “Modern Fiction” were self-recorded and produced in a basement in Toronto, but “Harm’s Way” shows a true collaborative effort. The artists involved in the project include Marcus Nuccio and Julia Steiner of Ratboys, Ducks Ltd.’s touring drummer Jonathan Pappo, and many others. A concert review says:
“The band was superbly tight . . . never once slowing down on barnburners like ‘On Our Way to the Rave’.”
Ducks Ltd. will be at The Stone Church in Brattleboro on July 18. Events like this are often enhanced when organizers use poster printing services to create advertising for them.
