Punk bands head to Brattleboro

Two bands will be in Brattleboro to punk things up at The Stone Church.

The Dollyrots and The Boreouts are set to appear together in a concert that punk fans are sure to love.

The Dollyrots are a punk duo that formed in 2000, comprising Kelly Ogden on bass and handling lead vocals, with Luis Cabezas on guitar, and doing backing vocals. Thus far, they have released nine albums on various labels, including Blackheart Records, Joan Jett’s label. Their most recent effort, 2019’s “Daydream Explosion,” climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Healseekers chart.

The Boreouts are a relatively new group, formed in May 2023, by Jay Navarro. Navarro is the lead singer and founding member of another band, the Suicide Machines, which got started in 1991 in Deroit. Suicide Machines, which has dropped seven albums, blends elements of hardcore, ska, and punk rock into the genres usually called ska punk or ska-core. The Boreouts will not follow the other model, instead saying they are a surf/soul/garage/punk band.

A review of the Dollyrots says:

"Amazing and spectacular as always! The Dollyrots have great energy and know how to have fun. Definitely a must see show. . . "

The groups will be at The Stone Church on July 18. When concerts like this are scheduled, organizers often work with local printers who use poster printing to create advertising for the event.
