Music of the season presented in Brattleboro

A concert is planned in Brattleboro that should bring the holiday spirit to the city.

A Winter Solstice Mini Fest will be held at the Stone Church, with Matt Flinner and Low Lily as the featured performers. Matt Flinner is a multi-instrumentalist and acoustic specialist who began his career playing the banjo but is now celebrated for his mastery of the mandolin. In 1990 in Winfield, Kansas, he won the National Banjo Contest, and returned the following year to win with the mandolin.

He has won recognition for his playing, and as one of the best acoustic/roots composers working. He has recorded and toured with jazz, classical, new acoustic, and bluegrass artists.

Low Lily is a trio comprising Liz Simmons on rhythm guitar, Lissa Schneckenburger playing the fiddle, and Flynn Cohen on guitar. The group calls Brattleboro home and has been together for almost 20 years. Their familiarity with one another allows them to blend their vocal abilities and instrumental mastery into a sound that has won high praise from critics. Roots Music Report said:

"Low Lily brandishes their formidable individual folk foundations within a collective sound that’s as smart with sense of pop phrasing and flair as it is roots-savvy."

In 2019, they won the Independent Music Awards in the “Vox Pop Fan Favorite” and “Best Bluegrass Song” categories.

The concert is set for December 11 at 7:30 pm. Brochure printing can be used to provide programs for events like this.
