Kate Bollinger is an LA-based singer and songwriter originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, who was raised in a musical family, with two brothers who were musicians, and a music therapist mother. She began making recordings at home when she was still in high school, and self-released “Key West,” her first EP, in 2017. She followed that with a second EP, “I Don’t Wanna Lose,” in 2019, then two more EPs, “A Word Becomes a Sound” in 2020, and “Look at It in the Light” in 2022. She plans to drop “Songs from a Thousand Frames of Mind,” her first album, in 2024.
Bollinger blends punk instincts with traditional pop to create songs that are both memorable and mysterious. Her style ranges from psychedelic rock to homey folk tunes, as if, one article says, dream pop singer Hope Sandoval fronted the Rolling Stones. A review mentions this strange combination of hard rock and dreamy psychedelia, and says Bollinger offers listeners a chance to just be ordinary, with no expectations:
“At Kate’s show, it was not about being lavish or least as much as appreciating how good it is to be okay. Fine can be enough, and, with a good song, it can even feel rich.”
Kate Bollinger will appear at The Stone Church in Brattleboro on October 13. Organizers who plan shows like this often contact Print shops, who work with poster printing to create advertising.
