Instrumental trio to come to Brattleboro

A trio serving up progressive metal and jazz fusion with a dash of sci-fi is coming to Brattleboro.

Consider the Source formed in 2004 in New York City. The founders were Justin Ahiyon and Gabriel Marin, who met when they jammed together and discovered their music meshed well. The third member, John Ferrera, had been playing music with Ahiyon since they were children. The three began to collaborate and eventually formally launched Consider the Source.

In 2005, they dropped a demo EP and followed that with “Esperanto,” their debut album in 2007. Jazz critic Howard Mandel put their album on his list of favorites from that year, leading the band members to turn to music full-time. They toured extensively over the next two years, both internationally and in the U.S., and began appearing at festivals. They also continued recording and building their fanbase.

To date, they have released eight albums, dropping their latest, “The Stare,” in 2024. Critics said this latest album fully realizes their sonic vision, combining the influence of heavy metal they have always shown, but adding cultural and improvisational elements. A review of a concert says:

“Consider the Source was phenomenal! I could have watched them all night.”

Consider the Source will be at The Stone Church in Brattleboro on Saturday, April 12. Organizers of events like this often publicize them with Posters, which they can find at Print shops.
