Ryan Montbleau is a native of Peabody, Massachusetts, who tours the U.S. yearly with his group, the Ryan Montbleau Band. Although he was given a guitar when he was nine, he didn’t focus on the instrument seriously until he was in college.
After he graduated, Montbleau started playing at Boston’s House of Blues in 1999. After appearing at the House of Blues regularly for some time, he began performing his own compositions there and at other venues including local coffee shops in Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, developing a fan base in the area. He and a percussionist formed a duo called “Palabra,” then turned to establishing the foundations of the Ryan Montbleau Band.
The band comprised Montbleau, Matt Giannaros, Laurence Scudder, Jason Cohen, and James Cohen, with Yahuba Garcia Torres frequently joining the band on tours. Among them, the musicians play basses, viola, piano, cavinet, organ, Moog synthesizer, and drums, and sing the vocals. The lineup has changed several times, but the band is always on the move, playing approximately 200 gigs annually. A review says:
“What an awesome talent Ryan Montbleau is!! His vocals . . . guitar-playing skills and songwriting need to be heard by all! He is grossly underrated!!”
Montbleau will be at The Stone Church in Brattleboro on December 6. When they organize shows like this, the host venue will often turn to poster printing to create advertising.
