Economic summit in Brattleboro

The Bennington County Regional Commission and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation are co-sponsoring an upcoming event of interest to businesses throughout southern Vermont.

The 4th Annual Virtual Southern Vermont Economy Summit will be held virtually this year, providing a way for people to connect despite restrictions. The theme of the summit is reconnecting, a chance for people from throughout the area to connect, ask questions, discuss concepts, and learn.

There are two featured speakers this year who will discuss economic data and policy for rural areas; the vital role of diversity and demographics in developing a healthy economy; and ways economies that are struggling can revitalize themselves. The speakers are Tony Pipa, who is a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution; and Majora Carter, of the Majora Carter Group.

Interactive workshops are planned that will examine community and small business development. In addition, a “New-to-Vermont” lunch series will be considered. Other very special guests include the state’s governor, Phil Scott, and the Lieutenant Governor, Molly Gray, who will answer questions from participants and discuss the future of the state. There will also be panels of young professionals to participate in The Future Talks Back: YP Town Hall. Organizers of events like this could use flyer printing to create mailers to be sent to participants before the date.

The virtual summit, which will be streamed from Brattleboro, will run May 12, 13, and 14, from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm all days.
