Brattleboro welcomes indie pop band

A band that grew out of a college friendship is coming to Brattleboro.

Rubblebucket is Alex Toth and Katmia Traver, who met when they were both music majors at the University of Vermont. When they graduated in 2006, they went on tour, though they were in different projects at the time. Soon enough, they began working together as co-producers and co-writers of their new group, Rubblebucket. They performed mostly in the Northeast, college towns, and large cities, becoming known for their high energy shows.

They used Rubblebucket as their impetus to explore psychedelia, dance, funk, and pop genres, and they have appeared at major festivals such as Glastonbury to Bonnaroo. They created their own Dream Picnic Festival, and they have worked with other bands that enjoy exploring multiple genres, including Jack Shears of Scissor Sisters, and Arcade Fire.

Rubblebucket has had a prolific recording career thus far. They dropped their debut album, “Rose’s Dream” in 2008, and now have another six full-length albums to their credit, with the latest, “Year of the Banana,” appearing in 2024. They have also released six EPs. A review says:

“Rubblebucket dazzled and astounded . . . turning the . . . venue into a whirlwind, prismatic dance celebration in a powerful and impressive exhibit . . .”

Rubblebucket will be at The Stone Church in Brattleboro on June 4. Posters are the traditional way for organizers to advertise shows like this, and they can find them at Print shops.
