Brattleboro to jazz it up

A special music event is on the schedule for Brattleboro this month.

The Vermont Jazz Trio (VJT) is made up of experienced musicians who are getting set to release their first album, titled “On the Scene.” They will be holding the launch party in Brattleboro, at the Latchis Theatre on Main Street, where they will celebrate with a performance.

The trio is Remi Savard on piano, Jeremy Hill on double bass, and Peter Schmeeckle handling percussion. The three are all from Vermont: Savard is from Montpelier, Hill from Waterbury, and Schmeeckle from Stowe.

Jazz pianist Savard leads, and performs with, groups throughout the state. During the summer, he performs a weekly residency at Sarducci’s, a popular Montpelier restaurant. He studies biology and music at The University of Vermont.

Jeremy Hill is celebrated as one of the best double bassists in Vermont and has taken part in the Stowe Jazz Festival. After the Festival wound down for the day, he also played with the house band at the restaurant Doc Ponds each year the festival was held.

Peter Schmeeckle grew up in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Barre, and has been part of the jazz scene in San Diego, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Honolulu. He has been working as a freelance percussionist for the last several years and teaches several instruments at the Stowe Music Center.

The concert is set for Saturday, June 19, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
