Samuel Tear Amidon is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer who began performing when he was a child, playing in a family band with his parents, Mary Alice and Peter Amidon, folk singers. He began fiddling when he was three, and has continued in the folk tradition.
By the time he was 13, he was a professional musician, playing with pianist Thomas Bartlett and his brother Stefan in the band Popcorn Behavior. The band dropped their debut album in 1994 and toured the country, released five albums, and did an interview on NPR, all while they were in high school.
In his teens, Amidon discovered artists like Don Cherry and Miles Davis, and in the early 2000s, he joined several indie rock bands. He launched his solo recording career by self-releasing 2001’s “Solo Fiddle.” He has continued recording, releasing his most recent album, “Sam Amidon” in 2020. His next album, “Salt River” is due out in 2025. A review says:
"A truly immersive live experience is a rare thing, but Sam Amidon’s compositions instantly transport the listener on an intrepid yet mystical journey."
Sam Amidon will be at the Stone Church in Brattleboro on February 8. His tour is in support of the new album. Colorful and attractive Posters are often used to advertise events like this, which organizers can create using poster printing.
