The 7th annual gala of the Center for Alexandria’s Children was recently held at the Black Wall Hitch restaurant in Alexandria.
Titled ‘Boots and Bling - A Western Fling!’, the evening was a high-end hoedown, featuring a southwestern dinner buffet, live cowboy music from Herb and Hanson, and games. A raffle offered items that included a trip to the Virginia countryside for a visit to The Inn at Little Washington, and one to a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Co-chairs of the event were Kathy Martin and Jessica Richardson.
A frontline worker and a community member who has made a significant contribution to the safety of the children in the community of Alexandria are given an award every year by the Center. Detective Kevin Thomas of the Alexandria Police Department and the law firm of Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan LLP, which has made employee donations and sponsorships and been the pro bono law firm for the Center for the past 10 years, were recipients of these awards.
Proceeds from the event go to help victims of child abuse and vulnerable families in the Alexandria community. The Center for Alexandria’s Children has programs to provide comprehensive care in a safe, child-friendly environment.
