Gala celebrates Black History Month
The 2024 Virginia Black History Month Gala will take place for two days toward the end of February.
This year’s theme will be African Americans and the Arts, and will feature life, history and works of Caribbean, African and Black Americans in the fields of literature, folklore, film, architecture, language, fashion and visual and performing art.
A free Black Health Fair will begin the weekend on Friday at 4:00 pm followed by a free relationship seminar at 6:00 pm.
From 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, an online and in-person Black Vendor Showcase featuring more than 40 minority businesses will have merchandise for sale.
A VIP Social with a keynote speaker will be from 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm on Saturday. The Social will be an opportunity for presenters, keynote speakers, and distinguished visitors to visit with Alexandria attendees.
Business people at events such as this often bring business cards to do a little informal networking.
The Virginia Black History Month Gala will be both will be in-person and online and will begin at 6:00 pm. A Youth Orchestra Performance will begin the evening followed by an opening act, welcome, color guard and National Anthem. After the opening prayer, the Guest of Honor will be recognized, and the dinner will begin.
