The Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC) annual School Supply Drive is already collecting material for the 2018-2019 school year.
The CFNC wants all children entering pre-school to have the supplies they need. To make certain this is possible, the organization uses the summer months prior to the September school opening day to gather as many supplies as possible. The wish list for the drive includes all basic supplies preschool children need and use. Included are folders, tissues, Notebooks, and much more.
Residents can view the wish list on the CFNC website or download the list and visit printing services to make Copies to distribute through their neighborhood. Donations can be dropped off to the CFNC headquarters or arrangements can be made with the organization to pick up any collected items.
CNFC is a nonprofit group that was set up in 1984 by local mothers upset by the failure rates of kindergarteners in disadvantaged communities. Today, the organization supplies eight preschool classrooms in Alexandria to help ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed. The School Supply Drive is just one of the events the group holds each year.
The first day of school this year is September 5. People are encouraged to drop off supplies at the CFNC headquarters located at 3700 Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria prior to this date. To arrange for a pickup, call (703) 836-0214 or send an email to info@cfnc-online.org.
