Next month, Del Ray Artisans Gallery will be hosting the, ‘Give Me Shelter Art Exhibit’ in support of Carpenter’s Shelter.
The exhibit will feature local artists’ work, inspired by the meaning and importance of shelter for all Americans.
Last year, Carpenter’s Shelter advocated for over 784 homeless people in the community, by helping them find shelter, get education, and break the cycle of chronic homelessness.
The COVID-19 pandemic has given increased cause for concern about homelessness, so the community is encouraged to make monetary donations during the exhibit. Carpenter’s Shelter also routinely needs personal toiletry items and new air mattresses. These donations can be dropped off at designated donation bins. More information can be found on the Carpenter’s Shelter website.
The exhibit opens on Friday, March 5, with opening day tickets available upon request. Brochures may be produced by local Print shops to give details about the exhibit and information on becoming a volunteer at Carpenter’s Shelter. The last day of the exhibit will be Saturday, March 27.
The gallery is open regular hours, with visitors required to wear face masks and maintain a safe distance from other patrons. It is located at 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria. Complete details about Del Ray Artisan’s hours and visitor guidelines are available on the venue’s website, or by contacting the exhibit curators.
