Tees up for parks and recreation in Cottonwood Heights

Golfers will drive, chip, and putt for charity at the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Foundation's 20th annual golf tournament next month.

By participating, golfers and sponsors are giving back to the community by raising funds for much desired recreational programs and activities, as well as park development and maintenance. The non-profit foundation has, for many years, contributed money to bolster community events, fund capital improvements, and provide financial assistance to residents who want to be active in area recreational programs.

Most recently, Ferguson Park became the newest park to open in Cottonwood Heights. The community greenspace offers an off-leash dog park, dog wash, and marked and mapped walking trails through Ferguson Canyon. It is just one of a number of area parks, playgrounds, playing fields, and pavilions to be enhanced through foundation funds, as well as citizen and business sponsorships of Signs, benches, and picnic tables.

The golf tournament is an 18-hole shotgun scramble event. Golfers are provided carts, snacks, breakfast and lunch, range balls, and the opportunity to take part in on-course contests.

Players also receive sponsored swag bags. Goodie bags such as these often include promotional products created by area printing companies.

The charity golf tournament is Monday, August 20 beginning at 8:00 am at the Stonebridge Golf Course. Information for golfers and sponsors is available on the recreation department website.
