Cottonwood Heights salutes timeless and contemporary heroes

Cottonwood Heights will wind up America 250 celebrations by honouring local veterans and day-to-day heroes.

A Star-Spangled Finale will be held next month on the day after Veterans Day for residents to pay tribute to neighbours and friends who have not only served the country, but also those who contribute to the community on an ongoing basis.

Residents have nominated local unsung heroes who lend a hand through efforts like shovelling snow, assisting with childcare, welcoming new residents, and working in other ways that help make Cottonwood Heights a caring, supportive and friendly community. The people who quietly assist others will have their names read aloud at the finale.

The gathering will also be a patriotic close to this year's semi-quincentennial celebrations that marked the country’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A singalong will conclude the evening as residents take time to reflect and celebrate their freedom.

The celebration will be presented by the Cottonwood Heights Utah 250 Community Committee. Civic groups such as this frequently use Letterheads to get the word out about local events and activities.

The Star-Spangled Finale will be held on Thursday, November 12 at Butler Middle School from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There are no tickets required, and the celebration will be free to attend. Full details are available on the City of Cottonwood Heights website.
