What's Happening in Cottonwood Heights, UT…

Next month’s Revel Big Cottonwood marathon and half-marathon will be run in support of the Cottonwood Heights Foundation.

A portion of the event registration fees will go to the non-profit group. The foundation provides financial assistance and support to area families that otherwise would not be able to participate in recreation programs and lessons. Working with the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation department, the organization also provides capital funding for city parks and recreation improvements.

The Big Cottonwood race is known as one of the most picturesque races as the course winds through Wasatch Mountain canyon. Primarily downhill, the route also provides runners with the opportunity for personal best times and possibly the sought-after qualifying time for entry into the Boston marathon.

Participants who run in the Big Cottonwood race will receive a number of event perks, including high quality race finishers' medals, T-shirts, free race photos, swag bags, and a race after-party, which will include food and other vendor booths.

Sponsors who contribute to large running events such as this often use banner printing to highlight their products and services to participants and spectators.

The Big Cottonwood marathon and half-marathon races will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, beginning at 6:30 am, 10 miles up in the Big Cottonwood canyon. Buses will be available to transport runners to the start lines.
