Stunning scenery will greet athletes competing in the Run Vigor Half Marathon next month in Cottonwood Heights.
The natural features of the Big Cottonwood Canyon provide the backdrop for the annual race, which also offers runners 10K and 5K courses.
The course is predominantly downhill, giving experienced runners an excellent opportunity for personal best finishes, while at the same time offering a suitable first experience for newcomers to the half-marathon distance.
The race begins at Solitude Mountain Resort almost 8,000 feet above sea level, and drops in elevation to 4,635 feet. Buses will transport runners to each of the starting lines.
All races will be chip timed and awards will be presented to the top overall female and male runners at each distance. Age group awards will also be provided.
Cottonwood Heights is known for hosting multiple road race events each year, including a September full marathon. The half-marathon event has been recognized as one of the top races in the state by receiving the Utah Runner’s Choice award.
Communities that host large athletic events such as this often use banner printing to highlight start and finish lines.
The Run Vigor Big Cottonwood race will be held on Saturday, May 9 in Cottonwood Heights, beginning with the half-marathon at 6:00 am. The 10K and 5K races will follow at 6:30 am. Further information is available on the event website.
