Second leg of bike race to be held

The second day of racing in the annual Salt Lake Criterium Bike Race will take place just over five miles from Cottonwood Heights in the city of Sandy.

The race is a well-known circuit event featuring more than 300 participants from across the United States. Criterium, also known as crit, is a highly competitive cycling race on a short, looped course on which riders do many fast-paced laps on city streets.

It is a decidedly popular event for spectators, who witness cyclists with advanced skills and experience navigating tight corners at close quarters and at top speeds. Courses can include challenging elevations and are generally one to two kilometers long, meaning the riders pass by spectators every few minutes, adding to the excitement of the street cycling race.

Cottonwood Heights cycling enthusiasts will be able to watch amateur riders warm up the track prior to races for professional men and women

This year marks the fifth Salt Lake Criterium Bike Race and, in addition to two days of racing, will feature an Expo Marketplace. Spectators can browse the many vendor and cycling industry booths.

Sporting events such as this frequently rely on professional banner printing to highlight sponsors and course locations.

The criterium race is Sunday, July 7 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at America First Field, 9256 South State Street in Sandy. Professional races begin at 6:00 pm.
