Rocky Mountain Strings schedules concert

The Rocky Mountain Strings, a group of young violinists, will share their talents and love of music during an upcoming community concert. The Cottonwood Heights Arts Council is sponsoring the event.

Rocky Mountain Springs is a group of about 30 young violinists of advanced skills. The group's directors are Chandelle Fairbanks and Ramona Stirling, with Shelley Astle serving as their accompanist, and Michael Thomas McLean their composer and arranger. The group has toured throughout the world, vising countries as far apart as Russia and Argentina, but also takes pleasure in performing throughout the local area.

The ensemble has planned a program that features classical music, including Salut D'Amour by Edward Elgar, pop tunes like ‘Millionaire's Hoedown’, a challenge for violinists that is sure to please the crowd, and a medley of songs from the hit movie ‘The Greatest Showman’, starring Hugh Jackman. There are 11 songs in the film, written by Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who have won both Tony and Oscar awards.

In addition to the violinists, the Brighton High School Madrigals will sing, and Premier Dance Academy students will also perform.

The event starts at 7:00 pm on March 15, in the Cottonwood Heights Theater, located in Butler Middle School. There is no charge for admission, and the event is suitable for all ages. Banner printing provides a way for organizers of events like this to create fun decorations for the venue.
