The Cottonwood Heights Arts Council is presenting ‘Shrek the Musical’, and looking for actors for all parts.
Auditions are open to men, women, and young people ages six and above. Hopefuls are asked to prepare 16 measures of a song of their choice, similar to the numbers performed in in the Disney movie. They will also be asked to learn a short dance combination during the first audition. An MP3 hookup, as well as an accompanist, will be there to assist.
The principle roles are Shrek, an adult male tenor or high baritone; Princess Fiona, an adult female soprano who can tap dance; Donkey, an adult male who is either a high baritone or tenor; Lord Farquaad, a male adult and baritone; and Dragon, an adult female who sings alto. The show also features a large ensemble cast in support of the main characters.
Auditions begin Tuesday, April 21 and continue Wednesday, April 22, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm both days. Callbacks will be invitation only, and will take place Saturday, April 25. The auditions will be held at the Cottonwood Heights City offices, on East Fort Union Boulevard. Performances are slated for late July and early August. Interested parties should register online for an audition time, and after that, information will be emailed to them.
City official might work with a flyer printing company on handouts with information about the auditions.
