What's Happening in Cottonwood Heights, UT…

The Cottonwood Heights City Council recently approved the appointment of Tim Tingey to the post of city manager. Tingey has already taken up his duties and takes over from John Park, who served five years and retired last September.

Tingey comes to Cottonwood Heights from Murray, Utah, where he served as the community’s Administrative and Development Services director. In this position, he supervised seven divisions: the treasurer’s office; facilities management; recorder; information technology; geographic information systems; building inspection; and community and economic development. In addition, Tingey served as the Redevelopment Agency of Murray’s executive director.

Before he moved to Utah, Tingey spent 11 years in Pocatello, Idaho, where he worked in economic development, grant administration, and planning.

Tingey was granted a bachelor’s degree in business by Utah State University. He received his master’s degree in public administration, as well as a doctorate in political science, from Idaho State University. In addition, he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in political science and public administration at the University of Utah, where he is an adjunct faculty member. Officials in situations like this might work with a business card printing company to create appropriate cards as a welcome gift.

Tingey is a native of Sun Valley, Idaho, and grew up working on his family’s ranch in Carey, on the Little Wood River. He and Gail, his wife, have four children.
