Marathon runners to finish in Cottonwood Heights

An upcoming race looks sure to put runners through their paces.

The REVEL Big Cottonwood road race is the fastest marathon and half-marathon in Utah, featuring a quick downhill run through the forests and canyons outside Cottonwood Heights. It is a well-known Boston marathon qualifying event.

Good logo design is important to organizations that want to promote large running races such as this.

The marathon race begins at Guardsman Pass at an elevation of 9624 feet, while the half-marathon starts lower down at an elevation of 7238 feet. Each of the courses takes in the beautiful scenery of the Wasatch Mountains. After exiting the canyon, runners enter the cities of Holladay and Murray before crossing the finish line at Cottonwood High School. Both races are USA Track and Field (USATF) certified courses.

REVEL is a collection of running events on unique courses throughout the US that focus on runner experience and community partnerships with organizations, sponsors, and non-profit groups. The economies of the fitness-friendly communities that host REVEL events benefit from the exposure of races. In addition, some local organizations receive funding from race proceeds to put toward health and environmental causes

Their races are known for being fast due to their downhill sections, and for taking place in locations that boast some of the most amazing scenery in parks, canyons, and forests. The average time for the Big Cottonwood marathon is 4:03:53.

The marathon and half-marathon will be run on Saturday, September 14. Further information is available on the event website.
