Cottonwood Heights is getting ready to welcome the holidays in style.
The Cottonwood Heights City Hall will be the site of the Light the Heights event that welcomes the holiday season. Santa Claus will be on hand the entire night to help with the events, and to meet the children.
The evening starts with free crafts for the children, free hot chocolate, and the opening of the Christmas Craft Market. Santa will lead everyone in singing their favorite Christmas carols, and the Cottonwood Heights Arts Council will present a preview of their new play, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”
Mayor Peterson, with Santa's able assistance, will begin the countdown to the tree lighting ceremony, and then children will be able to visit Santa inside the City Hall. This year, there will be no need for kids to wait in long lines. Instead, tickets will be distributed earlier in the evening, and the numbers will be called over the sound system.
The event is scheduled for December 2 at City Hall. Santa, with an assist from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department, will arrive at 5:45 pm, at the plaza outside City Hall. The tree lighting countdown starts at 6:15 pm, and Santa will be visiting the children from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The Craft Market will be open throughout the evening, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and the city is still looking for vendors. Banner printing can provide festive decorations for events like this.
