To mark the beginning of Cottonwood Heights' Brighton High School rebuilding, students, teachers, parents, community members, and alumni are invited to a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the occasion. Funding for the project comes from the voters, who approved a $283m bond last November.
School district officials say the project will take three years to complete, and will be implemented in phases. Work will begin this fall when a new field house and performing arts hall will be constructed. The field house will be sited to the east of the existing school, and the arts hall to the west. Also, a new entrance to the property from the south will be created by reworking the softball and baseball fields.
During the second phase, some classrooms will move into the new athletic and performing arts facilities so part of the old building can be torn down. Razing a portion of the structure will make room for a wing of classrooms three stories tall. The wing is designed so administrators will be able to see clearly down the hallways, and visitors will be guided to the administration area, where they will check in before they enter the school proper.
The celebration is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm tomorrow, August 9, at the school, which is located at 2220 Bengal Boulevard.
Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to decorate the venue.
