Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation presents the 10th annual Mayor’s Cup Pickleball Tournament as part of Butlerville Days next month. Organizations who plan tournaments such as this often use poster printing to advertise their events.
Both male and female players ages 14 and over will compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches over ten days of play. The event features a round-robin tournament format leading to a final round, single elimination. Eight teams in five divisions will each play seven games in the preliminary rounds before advancing to the knockout competition. Semi-final losers will play an additional game to determine third place. Players skills and abilities will range from beginners rated 2.5, up to advanced athletes rated 4.0 to 4.5.
According to USA Pickleball, the national governing body, pickleball remains the fastest-growing sport in the country, a distinction the game has held for the four years from 2021 to 2024. The organization has more than 62,000 members and reports close to 70,000 US courts, over 18,000 of them built in 2024.
The Mayor’s Cup Pickleball Tournament will be held July 15 to 25, 2025 at the CHRC pickleball courts in Cottonwood Heights. The tournament takes place during the town’s annual weekend festival that includes a parade, car show, carnival, entertainment and fireworks.
