Dream Theater to perform near Cottonwood Heights

Progressive metal band Dream Theater will be coming to the Cottonwood Heights area next month.

This concert will be a part of the band's Top of the World Tour, which was created to promote their latest album, A View From the Top of the World.

Forming for the first time in 1985 under the name Majestic, the band has since undergone many line-up changes and put together an extensive discography. They are perhaps best known for their unique approach to touring though, with each concert in a tour being different from all others. These differences include random instrumentals of popular songs being thrown into the performance.

The band has created 15 studio albums in total in the 36 years they have been active. Their music has a style that takes its influence from many musical styles, including symphonic metal, classical music, glam rock, soft rock, and progressive rock. It has also been influenced by artists like Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Judas Priest, and Peter Gabriel.

The concert will take place in West Valley City at the Maverik Center, which is located at 3200 South Decker Lake. The date of the event will be February 10, 2022 from 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM. Concertgoers will likely be able to buy T-shirts and other merchandise, each with a Dream Theater related graphic design, at the event.
