Cottonwood Heights on the lookout for actors

In true community spirit, Cottonwood Heights sponsors a musical production every year. For 2018, the city has chosen ‘Big, the Musical’, based on the 1988 film, and recently set dates for the auditions.

Officials would love to see everyone who's interested try out, but are particularly encouraging men and boys to attend.

For the auditions, performers will need to bring a recent head shot, as well as sheet music for the accompanist, who is going to be provided for them. They will also need to prepare a song, two minutes in length, that shows their voice at its best.

Those performers who get a call back will be asked to sight-read one of the musical's songs, read briefly from the script, and dance.

The behind-the-scenes team includes Kim Pedersen, who is producing the show; Jannalee Hunsaker, music director; Rob Bedont, orchestra director; the choreographer, Chelsea Lujan; with sets designed by Brad Lake and costumes by Emily Smith. Doug Bishop, who has over 40 musicals to his credit, is handling the directorial duties.

The auditions are set for May 8 and May 10, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm both days. The location is the Cottonwood Heights City Hall on East Bengal Boulevard. Callbacks are scheduled for May 12, from 9:00 am until noon at the city hall.

Fun events like this can be even more enjoyable if organizers work with a poster printing company to create colorful Posters advertising the performances.
