Residents from throughout the Cottonwood Heights area are looking forward to the holidays, which are marked by the performance of Handel's ‘Messiah’.
Rehearsals are underway for the event, which is slated for late November. Each year, the concert is given to the community as a holiday gift.
This is the 24th time the holiday classic will be performed, and artists and musicians from throughout the area have been invited to take part. The Salt Lake Holladay Stake of the Latter Day Saints, along with the Holladay Community Messiah Foundation and the Holladay Interfaith Council, have united to invite participants to join the celebration. Rehearsals are taking place Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.
In addition to the main performance, Holladay Art for the Holidays will display seasonal art for attendees to view, and small groups of musicians will play in the foyer and main hall to greet concert-goers.
The main performance is slated for the Olympus High School Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm on November 29. The school has been rebuilt on the original campus, which was constructed in 1952. The event is free, and no tickets are required. Everyone aged eight and older is welcome.
