Cottonwood Heights getting Big

Throughout the year everyone enjoys a number of plays and other events put on by the Arts Council; coming up soon is ‘Big, the Musical’.

Cottonwood Heights strongly supports the arts, as evidenced by the existence of the Arts Council. The council is a group of people who are passionate about the arts, and believe that welcoming artistic events to a community makes a strong positive impact.

The show is based on the 1988 hit film ‘Big’, starring Tom Hanks, and is the story of what happens to 12-year-old Josh Baskin when his wish to be “big” is granted. Now a boy in an adult's body, Josh learns that while being grown-up seems fun at first, it also carries a lot of responsibility children do not have to face.

Doug Bishop, who has more than 40 musicals to his credit, is directing the show, which will be performed at the Cottonwood Heights Theater next to Butler Middle School. This unusual community theater has 1,100 seats, professional lighting, and detailed sets.

“Big, the Musical” is set for 7:30 pm on July 27, 28, and 30, and also August 2, 3, 4, and 6. Tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults, and $9 for seniors over 65, and children between the ages of 2 and 12. They can also be ordered online.
