Cottonwood Heights gets a realty check

A seminar concerning real estate investments will be held in Cottonwood Heights this January.

The event is Sips & CE, and it will explore the topic of Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA). A 90-minute session, it will offer patrons the opportunity to gain a foundational understanding of the Act, and what it means for property sales that involve foreign sellers. The course will also include other issues pertaining to closing these transactions, and necessary tax disclosure, payments, and withholding. The seminar will also include wine and dirty soda tasting for all to enjoy.

The instructor for the seminar will be Mike Smith, who currently serves as the Senior Vice-President and general counsel to Truly Title. The company offers a range of services that include Real Estate closing, insurance, and legal counsel, among others. They operate across the country and serve clients from a variety of industries. The seminar will improve knowledge of conducting transactions with foreign real estate owners.
