Cottonwood Heights' favorite event scheduled

The time has almost come for Cottonwood Heights' biggest event of the year.

The city recently announced the dates of this year's Butlerville Days celebration, and is also now taking applications from those who would like to participate as vendors. Butlerville Days celebrates those individuals who were vital in founding the community and others in the area. Among the events during this two-day party are a parade, fireworks, food trucks, and a 5K.

The parade traditionally moves down 2700 East, traveling to Bengal Boulevard from Fort Union. Later in the afternoon and evening, the place to be is Butler Park, where other activities take place.

Attractions at the 2019 Butlerville Days celebration included huge inflatable slides, bounce houses, bingo, a classic car and truck show, and live entertainment. A carnival was part of the day, bringing thrilling rides like a huge Ferris wheel, as well as a classic carousel, with it.

The event celebrates the creation of the city, which dates back to 1849, when eight families settled the area that became Union. Five years later, there were 23 homes, and by 1872, the settlements of Danish Town, Poverty Flats, and Butler Bench had all been established. Many of these early communities are now part of Cottonwood Heights.

Butlerville Days this year will be celebrated July 17 and 18, which is a change from previous years. Banner printing can provide colorful decorations for outdoor events like this.
