The sizzling summer heat has had an unusual effect in Cottonwood Heights, forcing the city to close some slides in one of the city's popular parks.
Many park visitors have issued complaints over metal slides in the city's parks being so hot that they're burning people's bottoms, giving an entirely new meaning to the catchphrase 'pants on fire'.
City officials decided to shut down the slides at Mountview Park, located on East Fort Union Boulevard, after receiving a number of complaints. Other metal structures in the park are also being shut down, and will remain off-limits until further notice.
Posting Signs warning parents and children about the hot metal on the structures and slides hasn't worked, so the city is installing fences around the rides to keep people from burning themselves.
City officials noted that the park will remain open as they work to find a way to protect youngsters from the heat created by the force of the sun. The tennis courts, splash pad, soccer fields, basketball court, pavilion, restrooms, and walking path will all remain open and available to the public while the slides and other structures are closed.
City officials might want to work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents, explaining the problem of the hot metal, the closures, and the areas of the park that are remaining open. Get a Free Quote for Signs
