A popular local band is going to shake up the new year in Cottonwood Heights.
Crook & the Bluff will appear at the Hog Wallow, bringing their strange and mesmerizing music with them. Kirk Dath is a guitarist and the lead singer of the group, who have been described as “psychedelic blues-rockers.”
His bandmates include Ryan Arnold on lead guitar, and Darren Farnsworth on drums. Dath is also the founder of the group, and its principal songwriter. One review suggests that the band members are storytellers as much as they are musicians, and their
“somnambulant, tortured songs make sublime traveling music. They occupy—and score—that dark-gray space between asleep and awake, fantasy and reality, lies and truth.”
The musicians do have other jobs, but they spend a great deal of time on the road, as independent artists must do to build an audience. They have toured across the country and internationally, and performed with artists like Sleepy Sun, Wovenhand, Joshua James, and Murder By Death. They have also been the headliner at music festivals such as the Utah Arts Festival, the Escalante Music Festival, Craft Lake City, and MGME.
Crook & the Bluff will be at the Hog Wallow on East Big Cottonwood Canyon Road this Saturday, January 4, from 9:00 pm until 1:00 am. Poster printing can be used to create advertisements for events like this.
