The Metro Music Hall near Cottonwood Heights will host a performance by Cannibal Corpse this March. This performance will be a part of their promotional tour for their latest album 'Violence Unimagined'.
The band was formed in Buffalo, New York in 1988 from members of other local death bands. They were signed to Metal Blade Records a year after their first gig. Since then, the band has released a total of two live albums, two box sets, four video albums, and fifteen studio albums.
Members of the band have stated that their musical style has been inspired by many popular thrash metal bands such as Metallica and Slayer as well as death metal bands like Morbid Angel and Death. Their horror-themed lyrics have been offensive enough to generate much controversy. Many countries, such as Germany and Russia, have banned their works. Several U.S. Senators such as Bob Dole and Job Lieberman have condemned their work.
The band has gained a significant cult following over the years. They have achieved sales of over two million units worldwide throughout the entirety of their career. Their latest album managed to hit No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Top 10 upon release.
The Metro Hall performance will take place on March 5th at 6:30 pm. Bands like Cannibal Corpse may be interested in graphic design services for album covers.
