Legendary comedian takes stage in Grand Prairie

Grand Prairie’s Texas CU Theatre is hosting Jerry Seinfeld for a stand-up comedy show this spring.

Known for his observational and absurdist humor, Seinfeld first broke through into national recognition with his 1981 appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Several successful TV shows, movies, and Books later, Seinfeld has stayed close to his roots as a stage performer, with stand-up comedy still being his most prolific artistic medium.

The critically acclaimed sitcom Seinfeld, which he co-created with Larry David, helped elevate the already impressive careers of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards. It also helped put David on the map, as he would later go on to create the wildly popular HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Following the conclusion of Seinfeld in 1998, the comedian showed the world he was still a maestro on stage with the HBO comedy special I’m Telling You for the Last Time.

Seinfeld still releases stand-up comedy specials to this day, with recent examples being Netflix’s Jerry Before Seinfeld and 23 Hours to Kill. He is also the creative mind behind offbeat comedy films like Bee Movie and Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.
